Death Records Clackmannan

I am hoping to get to the Library this week where they have death records fro Clackmannan only pre 1852. If anyone wants me to check someone for them let me know!

Remember only pre 1852. Try to tell me as much as possible, not sure how much time i wil have so will do my best!

I managed to get there this morning.
The library actually has all the OPR Clackmannan pre1852. If anyone wants any look ups in the future i will try my best. Not sure when i will get there but will check in here before i go.

They are indexed by names and D.O.B so if you can give me as much info as you can.

If you go again, I'd be very grateful for any information on Andrew Cairns-I would imagine he was born about 1750. He married Betty Maxwell in 1776 in Tillicoultry and all their children were born in Tillicoultry. Their last child was born in 1794  and he was dead before 1855 when his son John died. I am at the brick wall stage trying to find out his date of birth and parents' names. Perhaps Betty Cairns's death record might be there as well. Thanks.

I'm also researching Andrew Cairns = Elizabeth Maxwell.

I'm afraid that I have also come up against a brick wall. However, I have a copy of the OPR entry for their marriage and it seems to suggest that Betty was from Stirling.

We have not been able to find any death record for either of them.

Are you related to them? If so through which of their children?

I am Williamina Eugenia's great4grandson.

I'm a descendant of Williamina Eugenia's brother John who married Mary Ann Drummond, William Drummond's sister. The only possibility for Betty Maxwell in Stirling that I have found so far is Bethia Maxwell, born 1753 to John Maxwell and Mary Finlayson. Andrew Cairns is a puzzle - I would have expected his father to be called John, in accordance with the Scottish tradition of naming the first son after the father's father but there's no trace of him. As I'm sure you've discovered, there are only about 3 Andrews recorded as being born between c.1740 and 1755, but there's another Andrew marrying in Tillicoultry in the 1760s and one marrying in Alva in 1775. It looks like the records just don't exist and Andrew's parents will remain a mystery.     I hope your investigations into the other branches of your family were successful.
