1861 Census John Hammer HARRY
« on: Friday 05 August 11 02:45 BST (UK) »
I am trying to locate John Hammer Harry in 1861.
He was bpt. 26 Mar 1837 St Mewan. He came to Australia and married Beechworth Victoria.
Until recently I believe he travelled on "Blanche Moore" arriving Melbourne Feb 1864 however the John Harry listed on the passenger list is identified as Irish.
This leads me to think that I might be in error. It has been suggested that he may have instead  travelled on "Arabian" arriving 1858.
Should this be correct,it would explain why I have not been able to find him in 1861.

I would appreciate help.

Hi Rex,

I can't see him. Mum and Henry are still in St Austell

http://freecen.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

John HARRY on the BLANCHE MOORE is a 27 year old Irish Lab
John HARRY on the ARABIAN is a 20 year old Butcher from Northumberland

Cheers Kris  :)

Thank you Kris
I had found his mother and brother as you suggest.
Originally I thought it was him on the "Blanche Moore" but he was definitely Cornish not Irish.
Unfortunately it is also  unlikely that he was the butcher from Northumberland.
The ages of both pretty much equate.
I will have to try and find him in 1861.He didn't marry until 1865.

Much appreciated.
Rex
