1801/1811 Ticehurst census look-ups
« on: Monday 08 August 11 22:59 BST (UK) »
Hi, I understand these are available for look-ups. Are there any Balcomb/Balcombes on them. Many thanks.

Mark

Sussex Family History Group baptism datatabase for members has 68 Balcomb entries in Ticehurst, including a Danl son of Daniel & Ann in 1801.  There are a further 28 entries for Balcombe (with the E) but none for the years you seek.
Best source of basic info initially (73 entries) is IGI using batch number C013842  to single out more precisely those that particularly interest you              Roy G

Those early census only show a surname and then the number of people in the household so may not be much help.  I have some of them but not Ticehurst I'm afraid.   Chrisin1066 may have it.

It was my fault.  You did make it clear, but my error was just skim reading the title.  R G

Here is the 1811 Census results

BALCOMB D, 3 Males, 8 Females. Being 3 family. (page 4).
BALCOMB Richard. 5 Males, 3 Females Being 1 family. (page 4).
BALCOMB Richard. 1 Male, 1 Female. Being 1 family. (page 6) .
BALCOMB Richard. 2 Males, 2 Female. Being 1 family.(page 9).

I know its not a lot of help, but it does give an indication of how the family is thriving or otherwise

Thank you both so much.

Wish they'd been more original with their names!!!
