Theophilus GOLDRING
« on: Tuesday 09 August 11 14:01 BST (UK) »
Hi I'm looking for any information related to Theophilus GOLDRING born 1843 in Bristol and married Ann Elizabeth Griffin - I believe Ann-Elizabeth (daughter of Richard Griffin/Sarah Griffin) was from Liverpool but would like to find out about his parents/family.

I have found Theophilus on the 1851 living with his widowed aunt: Mary Clerk and her family. Ref. 1851 census : HO107 1947 Fo. 214 page 30.  Doesn't help much does it?  There are quite a few Goldrings on the 1851 born in Bristol;  any of which could be his parents.

The best bet would be to get his birth certificate: Ref. BMD: June 1843 Bristol 11 170.

There's a marriage for Charles Goldring that took place in March 1840 in Axminster (Devon) ref. 10 1.  There are quite a few prospective brides.  Again if you send for this marriage certificate you will get Charles father's name.  Forking out a few pounds, but I can assure you it is worth it, and you can make quite a bit of headway when you get these certificates.  Anna

"Charles Goldring (deceased) Mariner"

The Hampshire Telegraph/Sussex Chronicle etc on Mar 8 1862 carries a report of a Court martial aboard H.M.S Victory. One of the witnesses is named as "Charles Goldring, gunner on board H.M.S Emerald".

possibility?
