Surely that wouldn't be the case in this, the entry in the baptism records of Kinawley parish...would it?

Thanks

Regards.

Certainly don't think it would refer to an Orange Lodge!

Is there a big house in the area? if so, could 'Lodge' refer to its gatelodge?

Checking the list of townlands in Kinawley civil parish there's a Cloghoge (which might rhyme with lodge)- in Co. Cavan, Bawnboy Poor Law Union/registration district.

Kinawley is the name of the civil parish and the R.C. parish spelling is Kinnally.

You can see from the map that Kinnally Parish covers parts of Cavan and Fermanagh- as does Kinawley.

Hi Tara, & thanks for the help. 1901 census link for James & Maria http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Drumcondra/Drumcondra/1271880/.
He wasn't with the family in the 1911 census but I found him in St Patrick's hospital where he died in June 1911. They had 9 children in all according to census records but I've only ever found 8. Vincent was my maternal grandfather. I've never been able to find anything of Maria's parents other than that they were James & Catherine & he was a builder. (Taken from James & Maria's marriage cert).
Any further help would be much appreciated.

Billy

Sorry, Matthew was my maternal grandfather...... don't know why I said Vincent !
