William Jones
« on: Wednesday 10 August 11 18:35 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I am trying to find out about my husbands G Gandfather but I cannot find the family on the 1901 or 1911 census.

I was wondering if anyone had anyone had any information regarding a William Jones who married a Mary Jenkins, I think probably in the 1890's.

They had at least 4 children, Bronwen, Idres, Lilian Maud and Mary in the late 1800's and early. I think they were born in Ton Pendre, Yastradyfodwg Mid Glamorgan. I think he lived in Parry Street, Queens Street during this time.

He worked as a haulier 1903 and later appears to be a colliery fireman.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Sandra

Hi Sandra

This could be a possibility ..........................

1901 RG13 5014 149 22 - Civil Parish Ystradfodwg - Address 71 Parry St

William Jones Head mar 29 Ystrad Glam - Coal Hewer below ground
Mary wife 28 Neath Glam
Idris T son 7 Ton Ystrad Glam
Bronwen daugh 5 Ton Ystrad Glam
Lily M daugh 8 mths Ton Ystrad Glam
James Glyns boarder single 26 Devon Tiverton - Coal Hewer below ground
John Jones boarder single 35 Merioneth - as above

If you think this family could be a possibility then you could use the info above to trace the family in the 1911 as we are not allowed - and as Cardiff has said the Jones surname can be extremely difficult but this might be a place to start :D

Regards

Z :)

Thank you for you help

My husbands Grandfather was Ivor Harris originally from around Dinas Cross, Pembrokeshire (he was a school teacher) he married their daughter Mary and they had a daughter Mair (she was born in Ton Pentre) my husbands mother. Thank you Z you have put me on the right track.

Sandra :)
