Taylor in South Africa
« on: Monday 15 August 11 13:11 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on Rentaul Taylor in South Africa.

Firstly his given name, namely Rentaul is quite unknown to me. Is this a common name among the Taylors?

Secondly I can find no reference to this person in any of Naairs's databases.
The only  reference to him is in Pieter Wessels's "Wessels of South Africa" in Rootsweb.

The reason I want his particulars is that he was married to a relative of mine Sophia Ellen (Fia) Morgendaal, daughter of Johannes Jacobus Morgendaal and Sophia Ellen Wessels of Kroonstad. The latter (and her daughter) was born in Kroonstad on 28 Nov 1870, date of death unknown but apparently in De Doorns, Hex River Valley where the Taylors were living at the time.
There were two other children: Johan Wilhelm Jurgens joined the SA 1st Infantry as John William and was killed in action on 10 April 1918 in Belgium, and Magdalena Francina who first married Roelof J P Viljoen and then William Joseph McMaster.

I am hoping there is somebody who will be able to add to my knowledge of Rentaul Taylor.
