I believe they were half brothers , Trying to find there parents names , there father married three times.

John's birth certificate should list names of both parents (unless illegitimate).
George's marriage certificate should also help sort out the relationship.

The marriage took place in 1945, Jedburgh.

The certificate will have to be ordered via the Scotlands people site as it's too recent to view online or you could view it in Edinburgh.

Also the same applies to John Bryden Read (1911, Hawick)

I thought we might be able to find parents via John's death cert but he only died in 1997, Hawick,  so, again, the cert would have to be ordered or viewed at Edinburgh.

George might have died Hawick 2009 (aged 85)
