Esker cemetery Lucan - Grave search
« on: Wednesday 17 August 11 13:48 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I am trying to my fathers grave in Esker cemetery in lucan. I haven't been there in over 30 years and I dont think any family member has either. I don't live in Ireland anymore but on my next visit I intend to visit the grave. I'm hoping someone can tell me the condition on the grave.

Details of the grave are Richard Graham, died 31st November 1976.

Any help would be very much appretiated

Seems to come under South Dublin County Council- phone number on this site:

Actually, here's the Council's webpage-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

hello jason,

my wife's parents are interred in esker cemetery and when we visit ireland we find that generally the graves are accessible but need weeding although some are a bit overgrown.

there are two sections, divided by the road. the old relatively smaller section is on the left i think depending if you come from the lucan village end or chapelizod.

anyway, you need to have the plot reference in order to locate the site, otherwise a hopeful visit may be fruitless.

if you have this info i can ask the sister in law to try to locate the grave and take a 'photo for you so that you task will be easier.

Hello Jason,
My grandparents are in the 'new' section of Lucan (Esker) graveyard, that's on the left as you travel up Esker hill from the village. The older part is to the right though it doesn't make much difference really, my Grand Father died in the 1950 and is in the 'new' part, my aunt died this past year and is in the 'old' part. If you have some more details I might be able to help. Are you (or your Dad) a Graham from The Mall / Main Street in Lucan Village by any chance?

Ill get all the kids looking. They are well used to it...  ;) Was he the first in the grave do you know. Makes it alot easier if you know the year of death of the first person.

Jason

Its awhile since your post and wondering did you have any luck finding your fathers grave in Esker?  I live near the graveyard and have family there.  I have asked a friend from Lucan how we could find it for you as there is no record coming up on "Find a Grave".  I'm curious to know did you manage to find out.
