1911 census - difficult to search?
« on: Wednesday 17 August 11 20:11 BST (UK) »
Evening

I am finding the 1911 census really difficult to search.

I am looking for a Mary Robertson (maiden name Milne) who was born 1843 and who died in 1925, in Blairgowrie. I have no idea who she would be living with in 1911 as her husband was dead and I have searched for her with her children and there is nothing suitable. I am 99% certain she would be in the Angus/Perth areas. I have found two in Blairgowrie of a suitable age but definitely not her.
Is there anywhere else to search the 1911 census other than SP?

Jim

The only other way is to go to Edinburgh and search there. You pay £15 a day to search and can look at anything.

Perhaps she is staying with a family member and if you find them, you might find her. She could have given her maiden name, not her married name. She could have given an inaccurate age or there might have been a mistake in entering a detail in the computerised index. In an earlier census I found a person aged 62 listed as being 12. She might not be in Blairgowrie in 1911.

Graham.
