Hi I posted a message a long tome ago about the Prossers of (originally) Merthyr Cynog. I visited the Llandrindod office once to find out more but the birth and burial records only start at 1813. I have recently emailed NLW to see if Bishops transcripts are available for earlier periods, awaiting their reply. I am specifically interested in the names of the children of Lewis Prosser and Rebecca Price between their wedding in 1802 and the start of records in 1813. From census returns i have found Rebecca born c1810 and ancestry trees give Howell,1805 and William, 1809; I would like confirmation of these if possible. Also I found a Lewis Prosser who was buried in Merthyr Cynog in 1925,aged 22, and I had been wondering if he was their first born.
Ancestry trees give Lewis'(senior)parent's names as Thomas and Eliza Price and Lewis baptised in 1774; this must come from somewhere!
I have temporarily lost the notes I made in Llandrindod, being a fool!
If you could help at all I would be grateful, eternally!
Best wishes Helen.

Hi, I would be interested in the birth records of John James born Crickhowell in 1859/60. He was my GGrandad and we know he was brought up by a family called Moss in Bromyard Herefordshire. He was with them in 1861 as a visitor and then in 1871 as their son. There are three births registered in Crickhowell for 1859 all AMJ 11b. If you could look at the parents on these births for me I would really appreciate it. I assume at that time even if he was illegitimate his birth would have had to be registered by his mother before he was given to the Moss family. I look forward to anything you may unearth!

Thank you,
Heather.

Helen, my advice is email the people who have the Ancestry Trees and ask them to provide you with a source of their information

As far as the baptisms go, you have already stated that the registers begin at 1813. This is confirmed in Phillimores

You have also stated you have emailed the NLW for Bishop Transcript information

have you heard from them yet?

As yet , I see nothing I can do to help as you seem to have done all the right things so far.

If the Ancestry tree owners have any source information I can locate that for you and get a copy of the original if it is at Llandrindod or Aberystwyth offices

Keep me informed and if I identify something I can help with I certainly will let you know

Regards

Jim

Coincidentally I received my 2nd reply from NLW today., from Bishops' transcripts in Aberystwyth. I now have it confirmed that Lewis Prosser(bapt. 14 June 1774/5,( I assume that means 1775?) was the son of Thomas Prosser,(1716 - 1777) of Ty Du, Merthyr Cynog. Also that there was a Benjamin baptised to Thomas in 1760, from censuses and Llandrindod records I know that he too lived at Ty Du, until his death in 1852 and that he was married to Elizabeth Jones in 1790, being a widower then. Probably his previous wife was Margaret Williams, married 1786.
Now I would like to see how much further back we can go with Thomas, so if you are in Aberystwyth any time, could you look up his baptism around 1716 and see who his father was.
Eternally grateful!!
Helen

Jim,
Hoping to benefit from your very kind offer.

Thomas Parry
Date of Birth = 1802 (every Census 1841 - 1881 gives a DOB of 1802, also DOB calculated from Death Cert = 1802. Unusually consistent).
Place of Birth = Brecon, St Mary (1851 Census); Brecon (1861 - 1881 Census)

Margaret Llewellyn
Date of Birth = 1803 (every Census 1841 - 1881 gives a DOB of 1803)
Place of Birth = Brecon, St Mary (1851 Census); Brecon (1861 - 1881 Census)

Thomas and Margaret married in Llandilo 17 Feb 1823 and remained there until their deaths in the 1880s.

Here's hoping you might be able to find baptismal details for each.
