Look-up for surname Manuel

Hi, I am a resident of Canada.  I am interested in the names John Manuel and/or William Manuel from the Island of Jersey.  They are reputed to have emigrated to Canada in the mid 1700's.  Does the name John Manuel and/or William Manuel appear in the Jersey records during the early to mid 1700's?  Is the Manuel surname prevalent in the Jersey records during the 1700's?
