Lower Staploe
« on: Friday 19 August 11 14:11 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me the exact location of Lower Staploe. I can find Upper Staploe but the census entry states Lower. Is it in the region of Honeydon or Begwary?

Thanks

I have found mention of Lower Staploe being in the parish of Eaton Socon ... not sure if that helps at all?  :-\

Staploe and Upper Staploe were originally hamlets of Eaton Socon. I can find no references to Lower Staploe and wonder if it might have been Staploe.

Which census was it and what was the name of the person?

Thanks for the replies

The census is 1881  RG11 / 1613 /60 /1 and the name is Mark Gurry

This page has 3 other families living in Lower Staploe and one family living in Staploe. That's what made me think it that Lower Staploe isn't Staploe

I'm visiting the area in the next few weeks and want to make sure I've got the right place

See map - if Upper Staploe is to the south of Staploe then logically Lower Staploe must be to north of Staploe

but then .. anybody else thinks laterally ?
