Surname McNulla
« on: Friday 19 August 11 17:44 BST (UK) »
Has anyone any info on this surname?  I've never heard of it, but my ggg gran was a Margaret McNulla, from Beltony, Killyclogher, Co Tyrone.  She was married to William McNamee, and their daughter Sarah was born in March 1844.  Grateful for any pointers!

Hi,
The Griffiths Valuation (1847-1864), a survey of all property in Ireland for taxation purposes, shows only two McNulla families in Ireland. They are both in the parish of Grange of Shilvodan in Co. Antrim.
There may be others where the surveyor got the spelling wrong.

Regards
Stewart, Irwin, Morrison, Haslett, Murrell - Dungiven area Co. Londonderry
Browne, Barrett -Co.Armagh
Neil, Smyth _Co. Antrim

Hi, I can see 16 Baptism records for the name McNULLA in Co. Tyrone dating back to 1839, also 8 marriage records dating back to 1856 for the same county

It is probable that McNulla is simply a misspelling of McANULLA  70 Baptisms or McANULLY  62 Baptisms which are more common in Tyrone.

(data from Roots Ireland site)
