Searching for William Mathers son of Joseph Mathers

I have William Mathers on my tree, he was born in 1829 in Scawby Lincolnshire to Joseph Mathers.  He married Lydia Ann Bonwick and the address at marriage was 208 Tooley Street, Southwark.
Joseph is shown on marriage certificate as a schoolmaster and my hunch is that he might have been a schoolmaster at St. Olave grammar school as this was in Tooley Street at that time.
Can anybody give me any firm information about this or throw any further light on Joseph and William's family.
I would be most grateful for any information.

Giving his father the occupation of "schoolmaster" may have been a little fanciful on William's part - as (if I am following the correct family ) in 1841/51 he is an ag lab ?

The address William gave on marriage does not necessarily mean his father lived there too
Often they are just addressses given withing the parish they married in - he may have only stayed there for a few weeks

If this is the correct family they are on the web with most of the family shown marrying. Robert is an Ag.Lab Henry a grocer/joiner/boot dealer

Lydia and William Mathers are on 1861 census, mistranscribed on Ancestry as Mather.

William's birthplace is given as Essex and Lydia's as Surrey, so I think the marriage doesn't belong to your chap.
