if you are searching for ancestors living in Piercebridge in the 1861 census in Ancestry, you'll find a fair number indexed under 'Et Durham'.  They will not show if you simply search on Durham, and many are also indexed under Pierce Bridge (as well as some more inventive mistranscriptions.
