Hi Bob,
Further to the information provided by Thelma on the death of a David Emeld Reddekopp, a search of the database on the Manitoba Vital Statistics site came up with the following (Manitoba is right next door to Saskatchewan):

Marriage – Reddekopp/Dyck:
Groom's Last Name: REDDEKOPP
Groom's Given Names: DAVID
Bride's Last Name: DYCK
Brides Given Name: MARIA
Date of Marriage: 02/24/1884
Place of Marriage: RHINELAND*
Registration No: 1884,001395

and birth of a David in 1888:
Last Name: REDDEKOPP
First Name: DAVID
Date of Birth: 09/10/1888
Place of Birth: R.M. OF RHINELAND*
Registration No: 1888,002220

*The Rural Municipality of Rhineland lies along the Canada-U.S.A. border in south central Manitoba.

Hello,

from the 1901 Canadian Census

District: MB WINNIPEG (City/Cité) (#12)
Subdistrict: Ward/Quartier No. 2 b-5 Page 6
Image at National Archives Web Site
Details: Schedule 1 Microfilm T-6435

line 34

Roberts, Ada  Female, white, servant, single, born 22 Nov 1877, age at last birthday 23, born in England, immigrated in 1893, nationality Welsh, religion Methodist, 12 months employed at occupation other than in house or factory, earnings in this occupation $250.00

resides with the family of William Rowan, born 1868 in Ontario.

This is likely not the right Ada if your Ada was still in England in 1901. The above Ada immigrated at the age of 15 so was likely with family I would think.

Here is a site for online indexes to births, deaths and marriages in Manitoba.
http://web2.gov.mb.ca/cca/vital/Query.php

The province of Saskatchewan is planning to have an online index like this. It is scheduled to be available in the fall of 2005. When that comes on line you may be able to find the marriage of David Redekopp (sp?) and Ada Roberts.

The David Redekopp in the Canadian 1901 census in an earlier message may not be the same David that married Ada. I believe that the Redekopp family in the Canadian census were Russians who had immigrated. They may have come originally to the USA and then onto Canada. They may also have been Mennonites.

Quite a lot to sort through. Good luck

Thelma

Hello Bob

If your family went to Canada then USA in 1908 you are in luck!  You can search the microfilmed CANADIAN BORDER CROSSING records.

In 1895 Canada and USA established a joint inspection system. Passengers arriving in Canada who intended to go on to United States were inspected by US Officials at the Canadian Port of Arrival, then enumerated on US immigration lists.  Two sets of records were created - passenger lists and compiled inspection cards.

These CANADIAN BORDER CROSSING records were microfilmed by INS. They cover 1895-1954 and are indexed. They do not include Canadians before 1906.  After September 30, 1906
both Canadians and non-Canadians are included on these lists.

For more information on the St Albans (Canadian Border Crossing) Lists (including film numbers), see http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/stalbanslist.shtml

Fingers crossed!
