Hi Ray - The first one - I keep seeing Rd Jessett (Richard?)
the second one - Caroline?..but the surname (even though it's scrawled twice!) I can't fathom, I'm afraid, except that it looks like it begins with C and ends in lman...something like Cahlman?

I would say "Rd Fossett" (i.e. probably Richard) and "Carolin Callinan" :)
Don't know what that name after Carolin[e]'s is related to.

The groom was Patrick Gleeson and the bride Margaret Foote.

Patrick was a sgt in the 47th regiment and Margaret's father was a sgt in the 8th Regt.

Looking at the Richard Jessett name have found an entry in Ealing in the 1861 census for a Richard Jessett 68 years old (shaky handwriting??) and a Chelsea outpenssioner (?), with a 42 year old wife Ursula Jessett and a 13 year old son William Foote!!

What is also interesting is that Ursula was born in Armagh - where Margaret Foote was born, and also that Margaret later had a daughter named Ursula!!

Looks quite promising but have not checked the other names yet.

Thanks all

Marriage St Luke Chelsea
2 Nov 1858
Richard Jessett full age widower pensioner St Likes Chelsea fther John Jessett occ Miller
Ursula Foot full age widow of St Lukes Chelsea father Jmes Nugent? occ Stone Cutter

witnesses John Crillman? made his mark
Caroline Chillman? (signed)

so it looks like Richard Jessett and Caroline Chillman were witnesses at Margaret Foote's marriage to Patrick

still can't read Caroline's surname??

Hi Suz

Thanks for that, I had found it and posted but my post did not come through.

Also saw the problem with Ursula fathers name - Nugent looks good, but the transcript gives Virgent?  Like you Carolin is still not obvious.

But I also found a possible death for Ursula in Canada in 1905 of the right dob and birth place - something for me to check later.

William is also on the 1851 census with Ursula but not on the same page - shown as "child of nurse".

And as I said on my unissued post - I love this rootschat
