Try Bury Local Archives, housed in Bury Library.
The Peel  and Yates families had land and mills .Later( 1807) so did the Grants, some in Bury
 some in Ramsbottom and Manchester.
North of Bury ,at Ramsbottom ,Nuttall Farm was owned  until 1698   by the  De Notaghs who sold it to Miles Lonsdale,it then passed to the Formbys and eventually it was owned by the Grants. The land attached was extensive and may have included areas of N. Bury.

Hope this is a starting point for you. The library should be a good source.   Viktoria.

Those names feature in the industry of the town, especially in the paper manufacturing trade.
2 well known firms were Yates & Duxbury ( Or Yates duxbury & Sons) and Bibby & Baron's , both were quite large concerns in their heyday.

An internet search will find lots of information about their history and founders. I hope you find a link.
Good luck in your search

Jolly-Chorley, Wigan, Heapey, Heath Charnock, Rivington, Anglezarke, Prestwich
