Thanks for trying - I suppose the marriage cert for Selina and one of the men listed on the Free BMD will give an answer - but which man?  I've tried looking up both in the 1881 census and can't find either man nor Angelina/Selina

Oh well.

Hello Diana
sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you
there never seems to be enough hours in the day :)

I have looked more for a will for William Henry Hart sorry still no luck
I don't think the Ann Selina Perry born 1850 Tavistock, Devon is Angela Perry I found Ann Selina Perry birth marriage and census for her
You mentioned
" William Joseph Perry born 1841 Cornwall, probably Penzance.  He married Mary Raven of Purleigh Essex in 1864." I cannot find the marriage or a birth for Mary Raven ??? where did you find this info ???

I did find a possible birth for
William Joseph Perry
Baptism   13 Mar 1836 at WICKHAM BISHOPS,ESSEX,ENGLAND
Parents   Joseph Perry and Elizabeth
it was the only one I could find that might fit and still doesn't confirm it is him ???
there are others born all over england with a age around 1840 but again nothing to confirm???
Also couldn't find any in Cornwall  :-\ there are lots with the name William Perry born Cornwall ???
Just a thought and again nothing to prove this theory but what if Elizabeth Perry was his mother ???
although we have her in the 1841 census with William Henry Hart so would she leave a young child with his father other family etc as he wasn't mentioned ???
you mentioned that your family thought Elizabeth was grandmother ? we are going on the theory that she was a Aunt because of William Joseph Perry son Herbert on the 1881 census as nephew but that could have been entered wrong on the census
the marriage for Elizabeth Perry to William Henry Hart could have been a second marriage
also I couldn't find a marriage for them either ???
The biggest problem is there are to many to choose from making it hard to narrow it down  :-\
really need marriage and birth certificates, baptism / christening etc with parents names  :-\

Hello Jackie,

Many thanks for all your efforts to help me with this project.  I am beginning to think that Elizabeth Hart had no children and so called any child who lived with her niece or nephew even though they weren't!  I just can't find a connection either.

Yes William Joseph Perry married Mary Raven on 5 Jan 1864 in Maldon, Essex.  The Ravens were big farmers in Purleigh, Essex.  Mary's parents were George Raven and Elizabeth Coe.

I have William Joseph Perry as being in a school in Chipping ongar in 1851 - do you agree with this?

Anyway, I am off for a week tomorrow to the Lake District with my camera club so won't be able to do anymore on this for another week.  Many thanks again for your help!
