Related to these WATCHMAKERS

I would still love to hear from anyone who has any knowledge of the COCHRAN(E)'S or the BELSHAW'S in LURGAN, Northern Ireland in the early 1800s. My GREAT GREAT Grandparents evidently had a big family (like they did in those days)  so I am sure there are still Great Great Grandchildren still around, so if you are one, related to this family COCHRAN(E)'S / BELSHAW'S please get in touch.

My Great Great Grandfather made long case clocks which I am hoping to attach signed H.H.Cochran   Lurgan

Hi Heppy,

Great photos of the clock's, would love to have one of those  :)

I checked the Lurgan Free School Register for 1786-95 and there are a few names for the surname of 'Corcoran', maybe its sounds like Cochran. Have you checked the Irish names from that period as a lot of names changed, spelling and pronunciation. If you want me to supply you with the names, etc then let me know.

You contacted me at my website lurgan-ancestry.co.uk and hopefully returning the favour.

Unfortunately, I can't find any pictures of his clocks online but there is lots of other information about Andrew Cherry- here are just a few:

Hi Heppy,

I am working at the Freeholder lists for Oneiland East, this covers Lurgan and its surrounding area.

There is a Hugh Cochran listed in the 1821 list as residing in Lurgan with Charles Brownlow, Esq. as the landlord.

I am currently working at uploading the Freeholders for 1813 - 19 and if I uncover any further Cochran(e)'s I will be in touch.

If you want to take a look at the list I have provided you with the link below.

Hello Andy,

Thank you so much for your message, re - Cochran's from Lurgan 1800s I have found in the website a few Cochran's mentioned, Thanks,

I would still love to know if Edward Cochran watchmaker from Belfast was Hugh Hall Cochran's father but can't find any proof, also who Hugh's mother was. I have tried for years now to find her but got nowhere.

I also can't find anything about the Belshaw's. Hugh Hall Cochran married Margaret Belshaw, but I can't find anything about her family, when and where she was born. etc.

Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you if  as you say you discover anything else  re-Cochran's

Regards,
Heather Graham

Hi Heppy,

I have completed the Freeholder Records for 1813 - 1819 but unfortunately no trace of Cochran(e) or Belshaw. If you want to check the records use the following link

Thanks for the link to Belfast Burial records.

Do you think some day Graigavon Council will make available Shankill and Seagoe Parish Burial Records.

I did have an Opportunity to have a look through Shankill burial records but still have more research to do.
