I am trying to trace my Cook Roots from Diss. Can anyone tell me if there exist any copies CD/hardcopy/internet of the Diss registers. I cannot visit as I live abroad

Welcome to rootschat  :D

You don't say which years you are interested in but some Diss PRs can be found here:

hello Christine

Thank you very much for that web url, I need to be able to look over quite a large period. At tthe moment I am looking for the children of John Cook (1774-) and his wife Lydia Bray (1771-1857). I don't even have their marriage date. At present all I know is that they had 2 sons John (1817-1892) and Andrew (1800-1886)

Best wishes

Rosemary (Flayosc, South of France)

Hello Rosemary,

Family Search has several baptisms at Diss by John Cook and Lydia Bray.

These give the dates, then you can use the site given by Christine to look at the originals.

Hi again,

Unfortunately the Diss PR's don't have marriages in the period you're looking at, but the Archdeacon's Transcripts do.

Here's their marriage - John Cook and Lydia Bray, married Diss, 9 June 1798.  Very near the top of the page, but not easy to read.
