Jones from Miners/Bersham
« on: Sunday 28 August 11 12:45 BST (UK) »
I know, I know - Jones. But worth asking! Anyone linked to Robert Jones born Minera who left the area to move to Durham? I am happy with the exiled family, but need help on the ones left behind.

Hi and welcome  :)

Minera and Bersham are both in Denbighshire - fairly close to Wrexham. Could you give us some dates for your Robert and maybe census references, please.

PS - some of my relatives moved from the area to Durham in the 1840s

Robert moved to the Durham area (Cornsay) between 1871 and 1878. He was in the Durham area in the 1881C with new wife Ann Dawson. This was after the death of his first wife Jane Davies. Robert was born in 1832 in Minera to Robert Jones. in 1871 the family was in Moreton. Because he left the Wrexham area and because one of his sons was Tubal Cain it has been easy to track him. But harder to track his parents and any other siblings. Robert the younger also had a son named Robert. He was my great grandfather. Jones and then 3 Robert Jones'. Thanks rellies!!!!

Hello  :)

On 1871, Robert was already widowed.

Not sure of this one  but the 1851 Census HO107/2503/744/22  has him as unmarried,  son in law to Thomas Jones, who was married to Jane Jones.  Son in law, in those days , often meant step son.

It may be him gnu, though I wouldn't rule out the Robert Jones son of a Robert and Mary Jones in Durham.

maybe, WR, but I thought that he didn't move to Durham until after 1871:
