Though these coal miners of the time moved all over the place anyway,he may already have had connections in Durham?

On the 1871, ref by Morgan, his daughter, Sarah, was 18 - born circa 1853, Bersham -  so chances are that he didn't move to Durham until afterwards.

Probably married Jane Davies, Wrexham, St Giles in 1852

The name Tubal Cain is probably a clue as there was a Tubal Cain Jones, General draper, Clothier and House Furnisher, at 10 Church St Wrexham.

I think he's buried at St Giles Church - can someone check please?

Also Baptisms:
17 Aug 1838 baptism of Elizabeth JONES
8 Mar 1839 John Williams JONES
20 may 1840 Edward JONES

children of Tubal Cain Jones (draper) & Mary, Church Street.

1841 Census Wrexham Town:
College Street, Temple Row: Tubal JONES age 30  Draper   not born in County

Kind Regards
Morgan

Nice one but could he just have been named after him, Morgan?  Maybe because Robert took a fancy to the name!

Abergen says the father was named Robert.

In 1881 he was a JP and draper, living Leeswood House, Grove Road.  He was born Leeswood, Flintshire so assume that's why he named his house.

RG11/5520/53/15

I think they just liked the name.

 :)
That looks a good one - given that Thomas Jones's wife in 1851 was a Jane (born Manchester)

yes, and with a son named Tubal Cain, they'd have to be Non-conformist (or Masons!)
