It's a street name or place in the local area rather than Bath itself I think - will try and have a look at at old map of the area if I get the chance. Further up the page there's another couple who live in the same place.  Thanks for looking anyway. By the way, the church was St Pancras Old Church - not to be confused with St Pancras New Church, I've discovered.  :)

I did wonder if the second word could be Bridge? Just a thought. Good luck.

If that's what the IGI says then it probably is. Doesn't look like it though!

I noticed that the entry two above your fellow's has the same father's name (first name that is, not surname!)  The IGI gives that father's name as William also - have to say I can't see it myself  :-\

Thank you for all the replies. I'm afraid I'm still not convinced it's William - and certainly not Thompson! Good point about the father two entries up Prue - so it must be something fairly common. My first impression was Samuel with that one, but then that doesn't explain the dot which looks like it goes with an i somewhere.

Thanks again everyone for trying.  ??? :)

Certainly a strange W if it is meant to be William and no long strokes for L as in Elizabeth, so I don't see that either, has the entry 2 above been also checked out as William?  I would have said S too except it isn't at all like the S in Symonds ... so no help at all really, though I could also go with Hamish..  :-\ mare

To get a definitive answer you'd have to get a look at the original register which I'm guessing is at the LMA - whether they'd check it for you I don't know, but you may as well contact them to ask.
