JOHN HENRY GRIFFITHS 1913-1973
« on: Wednesday 04 May 05 23:13 BST (UK) »
Hi All

I'm trying to find anyone who has links with JOHN HENRY GRIFFITHS 1913-1973 my grandfather who died 2 weeks before I was born.

His wife's name was GWYNETH MAIR (nee DAVIES) 1917-1990 and they had 2 children GERALD and ELUNED MAIR.  The family lived in ERYRYS.  I think John might have been born in LLANARMON but I know nothing of his parents or family and would love to start researching this line.

Many thanks

Sarah x

Hi Sarah,

You already have a fair bit of information probably without knowing it.

As you know where he lived and the date he died, you can order his death certificate. However, as it was quite recent (relatively speaking), there is a good chance someone in the family might still have it.

If you know the date they married, you can also order his marriage certificate, knowing the names of both bride and groom. Either Gerald or Eluned should be able to tell you the date their parents married, and where.

The marriage cert will give the names and occupations of both fathers, residence of bride and groom and occupation of the groom.

Another tip: if you join the rootsweb mailing list for Clwyd, there are several very knowledgable people there who come from the Ruthin area, and may well be able to help you with local info.

The Clwyd FHS is also a good help.

Good luck
