Thanks for the help - I was hoping that the census info is still out there because other Rchatters were able to help with Ticehurst census for 1801 and 1811. Thought it was worth an ask
To fill in why I'm interested in Best family whereabouts in those years -
* Charles Best married Elizabeth Lilywhite at Brighton 7 Jan 1779 (both of this parish)
* They had their children born and baptised at Upper Beeding between 1780 and 1800
* Charles was a shepherd
* The family lived at the bottom of Beeding Hill according to an article from the Sussex Weekly Advertiser about Charles digging up roman burial urns in March 1800
* Two daughters were married in Upper Beeding, Elizabeth in 1800 and Martha in 1801 (whose twin sister Kitty was a witness)
* Kitty Best (or possibly with married name NYE from marriage at Brighton in 1802) dies according to family Bible - but there is no burial for her at Upper Beeding.
* Son Charles marries Hannah Russell in Hamsey 7 Oct 1809 (both of this parish)
* Daughter Charlotte marries William Stoneham in Hamsey 7 Apr 1813 (both of this parish)
* Charles Best senior dies 31 July 1818 at St John (Without?), Lewes and is buried 4 Aug 1818 at Hamsey
* Son James Best, wife and family have a removal order from St John Sub Castro, Lewes to go back to Upper Beeding in Sep 1820 and it is confirmed on 12 Jan 1821
* Mother Elizabeth Best dies 16 May 1825 according to family Bible but I cannot locate a burial for her.
