Chambers in Greasley before 1743
« on: Wednesday 31 August 11 20:29 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for records of the Chambers family prior to 1743 in and around Greasley.

I have direct line through John A. Chambers (born 1855, Toynton) to Ebeneezer Chambers (born 1817, Little Steeping) to his father and grandfather john (b.1790, Cossall) and Thomas Chambers (b. 1743?? in Greasley)

Any help would be much appreciated, as I live in Germany and getting back to the UK is tricky.

Kind Regards

Hi m.chamb,
Welcome to Rootschat.
Have you checked out the IGI records.

https://www.familysearch.org

Go to the previous site as this is much easier than the new version
(in my opinion)

If you go to IGI and type in Chambers/England/Nottingham you will find several Chambers/Greasley pre 1743,

good luck,
Billy.

Hello m chamb,

Sorry to interrupt your thread, but I don't think you've made sufficient posts as yet to receive private messages. Could you just keep me in mind, please. if you have/find any connections to Bradleys or Ashers in Greasley ?

Thanks

Having completely forgotten my login, i'm now back. Im still looking and would appreciate any leads. There is a pattern that moves north west to Wales prior to 1700 but no firm leads. back on the trail and will update soon. m.chamb

Thank you for that post. did you get that from the Greasley parish records? obviously at the time the mine was the main reason why the family stayed around the region.
