Thanks so much for your help. I found a lot of records that really help. I have john, Thomas and Ebeneezer all living in Lincolnshire during the early censi ( ? ;).

I'm stuck with finding Thomas birth or marriage to Margaret though. I expect his birth to be around 1740-1750 in Notts probably close to Cossall. Margaret doesn't appear in later records which leads me to believe she died before 1840.

Any help would be appreciated?

Thats great detective work. thanks! I suppose one needs to know where to look.

It s a good fit from the dates, but I can't prove that that Thomas is the father of John. the gravestone is very interesting but i cant work out who Charles is (likely grandson).

I would appreciate help finding some connection between their son john and possible grandson Charles. I have found the birth of a Thomas in Arnold, Notts in 06.03.1746 but no further records. If Arnold is the birth place of Thomas and not Greasley/cossal it may make things easier as there are a lot of Chambers in Greasley. but ideally i'm looking for a notts record of Thomas and John/ebeneezer in the same village/household. which is either Arnold or greasley (notts) , Little steeping or elsewhere in Lincs. or neither ;)

Thanks again for your help

very interesting indeed. Although 14 children may account for the masses of Chambers its a shame there was no link to Notts. ;)

John living in Little steeping was obviously from Cossall/Greasley where Margaret and Thomas lived for a while. the grave at Arnold looks good as its a few villages over but not conclusive..
