1840 birth lookup
« on: Saturday 03 September 11 00:16 BST (UK) »
Hi
I would be very grateful if someone could help me out please?
An ancestor of mine, James Bunn, was born about 1840/1841 in Essex. I've always thought that his father was Henry and his mother possibly called Hannah Jordan.
But, I've just got hold of details in the marriage register and it says his father was also called James. If that's the case then I'm lost! I've no idea what his mother's called or any sisters/brothers.
I've got his birth date as 12th Jan 1840, Little Walters so I'm hoping that that is still right. He was also married on 12th Jan 1865 aged 24 (but his marriage was in Channel Islands), so the birth date seems to fit with the marriage details.
Is it possible someone is able to check a birth/baptism register for his parents names for me please?

Thanks so much
 :-\

Thank you, keyboard86, for your prompt reply! So it's likely that his father is the widower. More thinking to be done!  ::)

Hi - I'm still stuck, if anyone can help? ???
There seems to be two James Bunn's born around the same time - 1840/1
Is it possible anyone could help with finding out who was his mother, seeing that his father may have been a widower in 1851?
All I know for definite is that he was 24 yrs old when he got married on 12th Jan 1865 in Channel Islands, and that he was born in Essex.
Thanks

Well one thing is for certain, the James Bunn b c 1842 with father James is married on the 1871 to a Selina, and is carrying out the same work as his father ie Bakery Census Ref RG10/1666/55/13

Hopefully someone will come up trumps for you as to the correct James's parentage.

It just goes to show that you can think you've got it all worked out and cut and dried, then you find something else and it throws a spanner in the works!
Thanks once again, keyboard86.

Hi,
Salome, you may have my email to you re this but I ask it here in case someone can help.

Ah, the James saga !. Can anyone help with a birthdate for the James, son of James, who was born 1842, Danbury, married Selina. This James seems to have last appeared in C1871 and I am trying to ident a James who appeared in Texas in 1873 who was born Dec 1842 in England. I am an related descendant of this James of Danbury and also other Bunns in Texas who migrated from Purleigh, Essex. It seems more than a coincidence that 2 English Bunns should set up house in the backwoods of Texas and be unrelated.

Thanks, Allen.
