Identifying parents

Hi all,

Anyone able to help me find the names of the parents of John C Phillips b. 1921 (d 1926) in Penzance? Mother's maiden name was Noble but can't find either parent's Christian name.

Any help or pointers very much appreciated!

Have you checked freebmd for a marriage between a male Phillips and a female Noble?

There are 2 on freebmd - neither in Cornwall so suspect you will need to buy a copy of his birth cert

If his mother was previously married - this is what can happen

Mary Noble marries Joe Bloggs and is then widowed

Mary Bloggs re-marries to Mr Phillips

However - baby Phillips birth cert will show mothers true maiden name of Noble

Thanks for that - any clue how I can go about finding who Mary Bloggs is?! Should I just look for any male Nobles who died and take it from there?!

I doubt that would help you in any way as it pre-supposes that all events took place in Cornwall- much simpler and quicker to buy a copy of the birth cert

There are a huge number of Phillips marriages in Cornwall between 1911-1921 and without knowing whether John C was their firstborn - you have no idea of a start date when searching for a marriage or a death for a Noble of unknown christian name

  Hi ..

 another Phillips birth in Penzance in 1923 lists mother maiden name as Smith Noble. Could they be the same family ?
 That leads to a marriage in Bristol in 1915 of a Nicholas Phillips to Leonora Smith-Noble. A further birth there in 1918.
 However the only way to confirm any details is to get the birth cert as Carol suggested.

  Leonora Smith Noble b 1892 Bristol
  Leonora Phillips b 1893 died Penzance 1969.

Thanks Tazzie - the person who put me on to this bit of the family said they *thought* the dad's name was Nicholas. Will investigate... Thanks both for your help!
