Dating Request

We are modestly confident that this is my 4x grandmother of Rotherham. However, I would like to know what people think about the date both of the photograph and the subject.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Mid-late 1860s by the looks of it. Could we see a colour scan please, and also a scan of the back?

Thanks. O good, as I hoped. At the moment I lack a colour scan or back (hope to get them eventually). However there is another.  I am very lucky.

Have to disagree with China I'm afraid,I would say early 1870's.Women didn't wear bustles in the 1860's.
To be fair I thought the first one could be late 60's until I saw the second one.

Great. Still very happy (well ecstatic really) with early 1870s.
I had wondered whether the second was slightly later. She seems to me slightly older, but could easily be mistaken. She lived from 1811 to 1881. We believe the family would have been quite prosperous by middle 60s, so could expect to see photographs of mother from c.mid sixties on through into the 1870s.
 
We think this will be a daughter, from same album, after rise family fortunes.
Earlier/later..does it help at all?

I would have said that the first one could well be late 60s, and the second into the 70s - slightly more embellishment on the later dress, and a bustle.

I did wonder whether they were the same lady, there's something slightly different about her face in the second pic but it could just be to do with the angle, pose etc.  In the second pic she is wearing a ring on the opposite hand to the first pic...

I think they were taken at the same time & are different people.

I think they are different as well....Jim beat me to it. Eyebrows and noses are different, lips similar but not the same, eyes as well.
