Roberts family look up in the Holywell area
« on: Sunday 04 September 11 22:44 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me please. I am after a look up for the marraige of Thomas Roberts and his wife Ann? or the baptism of any of their children, something at least to tell me the maiden name of Ann.

I have found them on the census's in the Mostyn area, their children were:

Mary Roberts born c1842
Eleanor Roberts c1844
Martha Roberts c1846
Selina Roberts c1849
Jane Roberts c1850
Anne Roberts c1857
Thomas Roberts c1861
Sarah Ellen Roberts c1866
All born Whitford
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

Unfortunately - freebmd has several marriages in Holywell RD for a Thomas Roberts which show a female called Ann or Anne on the same page

You are going to need a copy of one of their childrens birth certs to get her maiden name

Martha Roberts September qtr 1845  Holywell  27  232

Hiya thanks for your answer unfortunately I've ordered two certificates for two of who I believed to be children of Thomas and Anne but they turned out wrong, I thought parish records were my least expensive way forward.
'Roberts' in Wales is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Thanks again.

You say you have found the family in Census entries?Have you found them in 1851?I certainly couldn't for definite. It would be an important find I think as if I'm right with my hunch Mary may not be the eldest child!

After finding the family in 1851 and looking at a Tree on A******* with the family,I still can only come up with the marriage of a Thomas Roberts and an Anne Owens which is given as taking place at Holywell St James in 1837 on North Wales BMD.

Hiya thanks for your answer. I did find the family in Bychton Mostyn in 1851 and Mary (who is my Great x 2 Grandmother) is the eldest listed, also going back to the 1841 census there is a Thomas and Ann Roberts in Mold with no children listed, it was the only Thomas and Ann that I could find.
