Which church? completed
« on: Thursday 05 May 05 11:48 BST (UK) »
I have just found one of my family at Church Street, New Windsor on the 1861 census.
Please could some one tell me which Church was on Church Street?
Thank you.

The church that leads off church street, could be St. Albans, as the street to the east is called St. Albans Street.

There is no church on Church Street, it leads to it - St. John the Baptist - here is a link to a picture of the church.

It is a stone's throw from the Guildhall where Charles and Camilla got married recently.

St. Alban's Street may have got its name because Nell Gwynne had a house on that street or in Church Street and her elder son became the Duke of St. Albans.

As to where they might be buried - there is a churchyard attached but by that time I would think it more likely to be in St. Leonard's Cemetery
