South Africa Headstones: Mackenzie etc.
« on: Monday 05 September 11 15:27 BST (UK) »
Whilst looking for my ancestors I came across a South African website which has images of some cemetery headstones.

One was for HM Customs Officer Hector Mackenzie aged 61

and one was for this young Assynt soldier who I hope will be claimed some day - buried in the St George's Park Cemetery, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape

To the Memory of
Murdoch Mackenzie
A Native Of Scotland
Coy Sutherland & Parish Of
Assynt who was drowned in this
Bay when in the performance of
His duty on the Beach on the
26th Oct 1859 Aged 18 years
