Hi and thank you. The date's I have are: George Upton, b 1882 in Bilston and in Derby 42 Graham St in 1901 aged 19 with his wife Helenor. Arthur, his son and my father b 1913 in Russel St which is adjacent to Graham St. Georges Parents where Harry (Henry) and Mary A Upton but unfortunately I have no dates.

I have literally just started and am a total novice at this so please bear with me :) If you require any further info re Arthur's siblings or other then I would be only too glad to help but it looks like you probably know more than me :)

Thank you so much for your replies and help.

I wonder if that is the correct marriage reg??

as at the time of the 1881 census they had children age 10, 8 and 6

there is a marriage  reg
FreeBMD
Mar qtr 1870 Dudley
6c 93
on same page
Henry Upton
Mary Ann Harvey

Maybe???????

There are a few discrepencies on the census
sometimes Henry is Harry
in 1901 census they have a daughter Alice age 16 and daughter Selina age 16
I cannot find Alice in 1891 (when she would be age 6) -thought she may be with a family member but no luck
I have found Selina's birth reg FreeBMD -there is no Alice in same page (signifying she was a twin)
1881 Henry and Mary Ann have a daughter Alice age 10 (her birth was reg 1870 -and she can be found in Derby in 1891 working as a chamber maid.
1901

42 graham St Derby

Harry Upton Head M 51 Bilston Staffs Cripple
Mary A wife 52 W Bromwich
William son 24 U Iron Striker
Bilston
Harry son 21 U Iron worker Bilston
George son 19 Iron worker Bilston
Selina daughter 16 Bilston
Alice daughter 16 Factory Hand Bilston
Walter son 14 Iron Lab Derby
Fred son 10 Derby
RG13 3224 169 30

Alice is a puzzle???

Harry Upton Head M 31 Furnace man in Iron Works Bilston Staffs
Mary Ann wife 32
Alice dauhgter 10

Abott son 6
Mary Ann daughter 4
William son 4
Harry son 1
Selena Weaver U 21 Japan Tray Sizer

all b Bilston Staffs
RG11 2814 55 28

It seems very likely that Mary Ann and William were twins

I can't find Henry and Mary A in 1871 census

but I think the marriage I found 1870 Dudley may be correct

I have located Mary Ann Harvey in 1861 b West Bromwich living in Bilston She has a brother Abbotts -and Henry and Mary Ann Upton named one of their sons Abbott -quite an unusual naem -so maybe???

1861
45 Bilston St
Staffs
Edward Harvey Head M 38 Engine worker Birmingham Warwicks
Mary Ann wife 40 West BromwichStaffs
George son 15 Engine worker Dalaston Staffs
Thomas son 13 Iron worker Darlaston Staffs
MARY ANN daughter 11 West Bromwich
Elizabeth daughter 9 Darlaston Staffs
Samuel son Wednesbury Staffs
Abbotts son 5 Wolverhampton Staffs

this looks like daughter ALICE IN 1891
Post Office Hotel
Victoria St Derby
Alice Upton 22 U Chambermaid Bilston Staffs
RG12 2728 80 20

it looks like she married Charles Henry Cluer in 1894 and they appear on 1901 census in Derby with3 children

So who was the other Alice -wonder if she was a neice ??? Further research may help
