Fanning From Cork to US Kansas
« on: Thursday 05 May 05 14:44 BST (UK) »
Hoping for some info tho from my assistance to others, know how difficult it is with few real facts.  But fingers crossed, here's all I know.

2 Fanning Brothers immigrated from Ireland, family lore says Co. Cork, in 1865.

Matthew b. 1832-1835
Lawrence E. b. 1833, 1843, 1853 --  sorry but it appears  differently everytime asked on US census records.  I'm opting for 1833/1834 as I think the brothers were close in age.

In 1880, a younger brother Patrick b. 1851 is with them

They settled in Johnson Co., Monticello Township, Kansas.
Matthew and Lawrence obtained land and farmed for the rest of their lives.  Don't know what happens to Patrick --  can't find any continuing record of him.

In 1880 a Pat Clancy b. 1855 in Ireland was living with them
may have been friend or relative.

Matthew and Lawrence both married Mary's born in Ireland and immigrating 1852-1854.  Middle initial E. or L.

Given names recycled for 3 generations: John,  Lawrence, Matthew, Michael, Francis, Martin, Edward, Leo, Annie/Ann/Anna, May, Patrick and every possible combination!

Thanks for any leads!
