Hello again, ringsfan,

Thank you for your reply, judging by which, your Bayntuns appear far removed from the Wiltshire branches. As I mentioned, their origins stem from Falstone and Bromham, Wiltshire. In fact, I recently paid a visit to the Bayntun Chapel in the Bromham village church - fascinating.

There are memorials to John Bayntun Starky, died 30th September 1878, age 58. Also, Frances Anne, wife of John Bayntun Starky, died 29th March 1921, age 86. Which shows the name Starky to be a link with your branch. The William Bayntun who appears in two of my ancester's wills is still being illusive, perhaps he too is illegitimate. A possible lead is the William Bayntun, born 6th April 1629, Burbage, Wiltshire and his wife Elizabeth Somerset born Abt 1644, Wonston, Hampshire.

Could you please tell me what you know of your Pye connection: christian name, where living, when died, relatives, anything that might give me a clue? Also, I'd be grateful for whatever you're prepared to tell me about your Bayntun connections.

Best wishes

John.

Hello everyone,

With reference to my original post about my 9xGrandfather William Baynton and his place of birth, well I have had some new info come to light and I have found another additional marriage document, which states that, 'William is of Wootton Rivers but now of Wolshill Joan is of Westcots'. Also that his wife Joan Baning was of Westcots. As we know they were married on the 2 May 1586 Burbage, Wiltshire. I have also reassessed his date of birth as I now believe he was born about 1555 and not around 1541 as I initially stated. The reason for this is that I think that this is a more plausible date. Given that I now know where William came from, I may be able to find a birth record for him and more importantly his parents. What I would like to ask is if there is anyway that I can gain access to these records or if indeed if any exist. Any help would once again be most welcome and very greatfully appreciated.

Best Wishes, on this super hot weekend

Simon
