Dont panic it was 1895.
Unreal find Shilo. Like you I have spent all day trying to solve the Isabella mystery. And would you know it,  her death is registered as Newton. Now it is a different story for Mabel's arrival.

Just want to add this from freebmd's

Marriage: Edward Higginson Newton to Keziah Brewer JunQ 1901 Glossop dist.
So I reckon that confirms Edmunds death is correct.  They must have just missed out on the 1901 census. I suppose the only way to know when Mabel left England is to see if she was on the 1911 census under Newton, Higginson, Hickinson or Higginson Newton or Newton Higginson. Have I missed any? Maybe she left after Edmund died?
