Baptism record - David Jones abt 1806 Llanrhaiadr
« on: Thursday 08 September 11 11:44 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm trying to find the parents of David Jones born about 1806 Llanrhaiadr.

I found David with his wife Gwen (abt 1810 Llangower ) and family including children Eleanor 1830, John 1835, David 1837, Sinah 1839, Thomas 1840, Mary Ann 1845, Humphrey 1851 on the 1841 census Nantfyllon, 1851 census Bododdon? Llanfyllin, 1871 census Cefn-Coch Llanfyllin.

Possible marriage:
Llanrhaiadr 15/11/1833 David Jones (otp) and Gwen Jones (otp)
Witnesses Evan Jones, Humphrey Jones

I think that David could possibly be the eldest son of my ancestors John Jones (1779 - 1853) and Sinah Ellis (1782 - 1849).

Thanks

Hi,
In the Llanrhaiadr PR a Sinah Jones from Blaen y Cwm Nantfyllon was buried Dec 29 1849 aged 68. Can this be the same house that David is found in c1871?
Hope this is of interest

Was your Sinah Ellis of Llanwddyn the daughter of Ellis Ellis and Mary Margaret Rickett?

Thanks

Hi Huw,

Yes, Sinah Eillis, (my 3 x gt. grandmother) was the d/o of Ellis Ellis and Mary Rickett, born 1782 Llanwddyn.  She married John Jones in 1803 and her brother David Ellis lived at the Cross Guns, Llanwddyn.

Regards
Sue

Hi,
Thank you for looking for the baptism details for David Jones.

Humphrey and Mary Jones were the 2 eldest children of John Jones and Sinah Ellis.  I've also found baptism records for the other children Ellis 1813, Margaret 1814, Thomas 1817.

John Jones and Sinah Ellis married 1803 Llanwddyn, therefore it's certainly possible that they had a child pre Humphrey's birth in 1806.  I only have circumstantial evidence that David was their son, i.e.
1. an Elinor Jones, aged 11 was listed on the 1841 census with John and Sinah - this maybe David and Gwen Jones eldest daughter bap Llanwddyn 21/3/1830.
2. David and Gwen were living at Fronheulog on 1841 Nanfyllon census, close to John & Sinah at Blaen-y-cym
3. David's children's names included John and Sinah

Thanks
Sue
