how can my wife get her own account on roots chat so that all details are sent to her email account and research her family?????

Are you both using the same PC?  I think you will need to logout (top right), and then you should be able to see somewhere to signup to a new account.

Then you will each need to login and out each time you access the website, so that you post in your own names.
