1901 Look Up Please
« on: Thursday 05 May 05 21:53 BST (UK) »
Need some help please.

Trying to find a family who seem to have disappeared.

In 1901 they would have been

Alfred Slater 49 b Pilkington Lancashire
Mary Slater 51 b Pilkington Lancashire
Alice Slater 24 b Radcliffe Lancashire
John Slater 14 b Radcliffe Lancashire
Mary Ann Slater 22 b Radcliffe Lancashire
Willie Slater 20 b Radcliffe Lancashire
James Slater 16 b Radcliffe Lancashire

I think they may have ended up in Scotland and John may have married a Jessie Davison (b1889)

Can anyone shed any light (no matter how dim); would be eternally grateful.

Thanks in advance

Hi Groucho, if you have not searched in Scotland before and haven't already tried the ScotlandsPeople site, you should as the 1871 to 1901 censuses of Scotland are now online, and you can also search BDMs (marriages now up to 1929), all with downloadable images.  OPRs also but no images as yet.  It costs £6 for 30 credits and is addictive but very worthwhile.

Beware of variations in spelling of surnames, however I think you should be ok with Slater and Davison (famous last words).
Good luck
