help to find missing Whiting
« on: Tuesday 13 September 11 23:33 BST (UK) »
I am looking for my great great grandmother Jane Matilda Whiting -(Osborne) born approx 1823 Duntisbourne Abbotts Gloucestershire, she married Caleb Whiting in 1847, moved to Glasgow approx 1871+ and was in Glasgow on 1881 census and then ????? I can't find a death for her in Glasgow or other parts of Scotland, no trace in England so far. 2 of her sons went to the USA but can't find her there either. She was also known as Jeanie Tilda Whiting.
Can anyone help?

Hi- thanks for reply- I did look into that and couldn't find anything. I think I may have found her in Worcester but need some more evidence that it's her.

That is her son who was married in 1885- he had several siblings but many in Glasgow. I have Jane in Scotland with her other children in 1881 and then I think her death in Worcester in 1887 which is possible as her son was there then but need something to confirm it's her death before I order a certificate.

Hi,
Just joined this site and was interested to see your posts - Jane Whiting was also my great-great grandmother ( I am descended from her son William ). I don't think I know much more than you and wonder what took the family all the way to Glasgow from rural Gloucestershire ? The chance of work presumably but a major culture shock all the same!

Kind regards
