Parents of Isabella Troup McDonald?
« on: Wednesday 14 September 11 00:34 BST (UK) »
My Nana, Annie Duncan Forsyth Stables, was born on 25th December 1932. Her mother, Isabella Troup McDonald (b. 31st July 1903), gave her up at birth and left her on the doorstep of another family. My Nana was Illegitimate but I have found the father.

Unfortunately I have been unable to find out who Isabella's parents are... all I know is that her mothers name was Margaret I McDonald. Isabella is listed as Illegitimate also. I am not ready to give up on this one........

OH and the 1911 Census has Isabella staying as a boarder and at school aged 7, residing at Goucraig Cottage House (I THINK) with George Anderson Phillip and Emma?? Ann Phillip.

Anyone able to help?

Regards
Jamie

Isabella Troup McDonald (b. 31st July 1903) St Nicholas Aberdeen.
Margaret I McDonald born 1883, St Nicholas, Aberdeen.

A 1901 census check for Margaret may throw up a "Troup" surname at or near the same location. Then it's church records.
It may be a longish job to find exactly who is who on the male side.

Malky.

Thanks Malky.

Any suggestions on where to look for the father? I have been told about illegitimacy records but unsure how to do it!
