Another useful tip re 1911.....

Combine searches on this site - the results give places of birth.

Thanks for your help everyone,; I do know where he died, I have the death cert ( 18.9.1950 Trowbridge, Wilts. age given as 64, death notified by my now 93 year old Aunt, certificate issued to my now deceased father - also calling himself for all his life William Henry, but born Henry William!.... so it does not lead me anywhere new. I have looked at Bedwelty people, I have looked at various census ( censi?!), and have found some tenuous possibles, including a mr Jordan in what would appear to be a lodging house in Llanelli ( but of course that one does not link to any relatives as that person is on his own there). The problem I have is finding something definite to pin any of these people to my Gf, which is why I think any hope I have lies with any pit records to find this Pit bank worker of the right age in 1917/18, which, inconveniently is in between census dates, in the hope that any pit records if i ever do find any, might show something of where this particular man came from or lived at the time he worked at the colliery. Does anyone know if there is any chance of finding anything like this?

Hello  :)

Have you seen the family in Tewkesbury in 1891?

William H Jordan age 6
living with his Grandmother Elizabeth Heath age 65, and her daughters Laura and Agnes

RG12 Piece 2049 Folio 28 Page 21

There is a marriage in 1883 of William Henry Jordan and Clara Heath
Tewkesbury volume 6a page 771

and a possible death of William Jordan age 34 in 1887 at Barton Regis (different area of county obviously, but others are older)

I think it's difficult to find employee records of individual pits unless you can find records of compensation following accident or death.  :-\

Kind Regards
Morgan
