Hannah Rawlins Baptism
« on: Tuesday 20 September 11 11:14 BST (UK) »
Hello Everyone

I am looking for confirmation of the baptism or birth of Hannah Rawlins . She married John Knapper of Bosbury in Munsley in 1785.
The IGI has a baptism in 1755 in Bosbury of Hannah Rollings and I wondered if this could be her. No luck on Freereg or Forest of Dean websites.

Thank you

You might think about sending for a marriage cert to confirm your thoughts or even visit the local church and cemetry for answers.

Hello robshfds

Thank you very much for your post.

Unfortunately Hannah is born 80 years before 1837 when registration of certs began but I could, as you mentioned, try the local church records but as I live in Norfolk it is not that easy to visit. I will see if I can find out via other means.

Thank you once again for replying

This may not be of much help but my cassini map of herefordshire abt 1850 suggests that Bosbury and Munsley were very tiny hamlets then.

Thank you Mike.

It seems all my Herefordshire relations started in small hamlets around Ledbury and eventually ended up there!!

Hi

I think you answer may lie in some of those surrounding villages you mention and maybe a play on the surname/s.

There is also...

Source, IGI:
17 Aug 1755 Hannah Rawlins, d. of William Rawlins & Ann, bap. Avenbury (about 10 miles or so N. of Ledbury)

The Munsley PR's confirm the 1785 mar. and say they are both of that parish, no evidence they were born/bap. there.

Source, Family Search:
13 Aug 1758 John Napper, s. of Joseph Napper & Elizabeth, bap. Ledbury.

Hope you can get something from this.

Regards
Geoff
