Martha also has a son John Ablain on the 1841 census but I cannot find a birth record for him or anything after that. Although , an entry on the 1861 census for St Hilda in South Shields has a John Abelin staying with grandparents............Can anyone help with that........grandparents name  - or anything? :)

Hi,

A possible death for John,

John ABLIN    Mar Q 1842     Isle of Wight    8  156

The IOWFHS site,

http://www.isle-of-wight-fhs.co.uk/index.htm

has a death for him and a Rosina ABLIN,

Rosina ABLIN    1840    age: 1 year    Newport
John ABLIN    1842    age: 1 year        Newport

These could be their births,

Female ABLIN    1838    Newport
Mother's Maiden name or other relevant surname(s): SIMMONDS

John ABLIN    1840    Newport
Mother's Maiden name or other relevant surname(s): SIMMONDS

Perhaps Martha was having children with John SIMMONDS before their marriage?

Regards,
Daisy

it may also be of interest that there's a George Ablin, son of Philip (a watchman) and Mary christened in Chelsea in March 1828. It appears the same chap is in Newport, IOW on 1851, with his wife Sophia nee Kearley whom he marries in 1848. By 1854 he has been convicted of larceny. British Newspaper archive search results suggest other misdemeanours in Hampshire/IOW in the late 1840s/early 1850s.

I lose sight of them after that - although Sophia may die in Brentford area in 1905

thank you Daisy and Mabel..........new avenues for me to go down.........I had already supposed that Martha had the 2 children before marriage and that Rosina had died before the census, but you've kind of reinforced that.................
