Judges of Doric at Elgin festivals some time between 1920 and 1944
« on: Saturday 24 September 11 10:06 BST (UK) »
This is maybe not the usual enquiry but I thought I would give it a go.
On a recent visit to Elgin I got a copy of the obituary for a William Smith who died on 16th March 1944.  Instead of reading it properly at the time I left it until I came home.  It mentions that he was a judge of the Doric at Elgin Festivals. Going by his obituary it would have been approx. between 1920 and 1944.  He was also a motor hirer in the High Street but I am not sure where in the High Street.
Apart from looking at old newspapers of previous festivals can anybody advise if there is anywhere I can look for photos of judges of the Doric at Elgin festivals.  I am trying to get a photo of William Smith and also find out where his business was.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.
Betty
