HERRINGTON family – S.A. to Vic to W.A

 George HERRINGTON (1857-1929) and Sophia KELLOW (1863-1919) married 1885 in Norwood, South Australia are my great grandparents.
They had the following children:
•   George Herbert HERRINGTON (1886-1929) b South Australia ; died W.A (my grandfather)
•   Albert HERRINGTON (1890-1916) b Collingwood, VIC;  killed WW1
•   Walter HERRINGTON (1893-1956) b Collingwood, VIC; died W.A.
•   Oliver HERRINGTON (1889-1890) b and died Collingwood, VIC
•   Mabel HERRINGTON (1895-1896) b and died Collingwood, VIC
•   Violet May HERRINGTON (1899-1965) b and died Perth, W.A.
•   Myrtle HERRINGTON (1901-1953) b and died Perth, W.A
•   Leslie HERRINGTON (1907-1957) b and died Perth, W.A.  (male)

However I have a lovely photo of my grandfather, George Herbert HERRINGTON and his FOUR brothers taken when they were late teens to twenties.  Perhaps one is a youthful-looking father or a cousin or perhaps (nagging doubt) I missed one of the brothers  ...?

Sophia's death notice in the West Australian (Perth, 24 June 1919) only mentions:
George
Albert (killed in action)
Wallie (returned)
Violet
Myrtle
Leslie

Could your 'extra' man perhaps be a brother-in-law?

To my way of looking at it, you may have missed two.

Oliver died when he was 1 yr  and so not in the photo.

 Leslie must only have benn 9 years old when Albert died in 1916, so would therefore appear as a child in the photo , not a lad in his "late teens" as you describe.

That leaves for the photo GEORGE, ALBERT, & WALTER if the photo was  taken before 1916 and further mystery if it was after 1916.

Thanks Dazey and Sue.  (The mother's death certificate lists the living children and 2 males and 3 females deceased which ties in with Oliver and Albert having died.  The father's death certificate is less accurate).

On the back of photo was written the Herrington brothers (George is the one with moustache).  That comment does sound like it was written some time after the photo was taken so not to be taken too literally.  

I am just grateful that they indicated George.

This is amazing finding this information- I am the daughter of Walter (Bub) Herrington. Grand daughter of Walter Herrington (1893-1956). Id love to learn more. Thank you
