Lost James Malia - completed with thanks
« on: Monday 26 September 11 19:04 BST (UK) »
Searching for a James Melia/Malia born 1880 North Shields. I have him in the 1881 census but after that he just disappears from the 1891 & 1901 census. He married in Tynemouth in 1905 to a Annie Mulrooney but cannot find him in 1911. I have found his family in the other census but not him so any help as to his whereabouts would be appreciated

Hello Lottee,

The one I can see has parents Patrick and Margaret and in 1891, Margaret has remarried. Is this the right family?
There is a death for a Patrick in 1885, but the age is out and also a death for a James 5 yrs in 1885.

That's the family and I can track Margaret and the rest of the family through to 1911, it is James that has disappeared but pops up in 1905 when he marries.
We are checking out if this is the correct Patrick to be sure that he did die in 1885. If he didn't then the following census are incorrect. What they had going for them was John Casey was stepfather to the sons in the family which match the 1881 census and have found the marraige between Margaret and John in 1885.

Have you ever checked that death for James aged 5 yrs?

There is only the one James in 1881 which is son of Patrick and Margaret.

It may be that another James moved there 1881-1885 and then died  :-\

Do you have evidence that your James is of this family?

Patrick did die and Margaret remarried and this is now confirmed and James did die at a young age which is why we couldn't find him

Many thanks
